The firm was founded in 1989 by partners Gama Lobo Xavier and Luís Teixeira e Melo under the name Gama Lobo Xavier e Luis Teixeira e Melo - Sociedade de Advogados.

Its founding was the culmination of a long and close professional and personal relationship between its founding partners which begun in the second half of the seventies, and which was later extended to take in their direct descendants and then, slowly but surely, to new partners and associates.

The growth of the firm has been the result of its thoroughness in satisfying client expectations and the demand for the technical-scientific knowledge of its partners and collaborators.
